Big Impact. Real Innovation.Brandy & whisky case
Innovation often begins with curiosity. Seeing an opportunity to improve a customer’s process and turning it into a smarter, more efficient solution. This brandy and whisky case shows how rethinking transport methods can unlock value across the entire supply chain.
The challenge
A long-standing customer in Kenya imported brandy and whisky in IBCs, resulting in significant handling & storage challenges and additional costs. They were open to receiving these products in bulk, but because they purchased the goods on a CIF (cost, insurance and freight) basis, the supplier determined the mode of transport. To improve efficiency, the transport setup needed to change at the source.
Our approach
Thanks to a decade-long relationship with the supplier, the colleagues at the Van den Bosch headquarters had a direct line of communication. Together with our commercial manager, we reached out to discuss the customer’s operational challenges. We introduced ISO tank transport as a cleaner, safer and more cost-effective alternative to IBCs, showing how it could streamline the entire process. Through strong collaboration between our global sales teams, we aligned all parties and facilitated the shift from IBCs to ISO tanks.
The impact
The transition eliminated the use of IBCs, removing handling costs, reducing waste and simplifying operations. Through our network, we also adjusted the delivery mode to fully support the new bulk setup. With close teamwork, industry knowledge and strong relationships, Van den Bosch helped reshape the customer’s import process, creating a more efficient and future-ready solution.
